Netflix has released all 10 episodes of its Korean romantic comedy Take Charge of My Heart on 9 October 2026. Directed by Park Soo-won (Birthcare Center) from a screenplay by Song You-chae, Take Charge of My Heart centres around Baek Ho-rang (Kim Young-kwang), heir to a conglomerate and Na Bo-bae (Chae Soo-bin), a drama writer. It's based on Haebeon's web novel Charge Me Up (serialised on Naver) and produced by Whynot Media and Next Entertainment World (the company that released Train to Busan).
One Heart, One Power Source
Take Charge of My Heart begins when Ho-rang's artificial heart begins to malfunction. When he finds that Bo-bae, who was struck by lightning as a child and retains residual charge in her body, can keep his heart beating, the pair make a deal. A classic contract romance that you've seen a zillion times begins, with a sci-fi-ish plot point. Well, not exactly a zillion, but Korean television is built on such fare. But you can always watch another. Especially as this time, the man literally can't function without the woman by his side. And he'd better keep her close, cos she can zap him.
What to Expect
The Korean media have aptly described Take Charge of My Heart as the tried and tested formula with an electric twist. The synopsis and imagery released for Take Charge of My Heart goes for the tagline, "Charged by touch, drained by distance, shocked by love!". Which is to say, it's a clever enough idea.

Official Trailer
Netflix first shared a short teaser for Take Charge of My Heart on 10 September 2026. On 28 September 2026, it shared a 1 minute 47 seconds long official trailer (with English subtitles) here.
Streaming in India
Take Charge of My Heart is a Netflix adaptation from a web novel (Business Proposal, released in 2022, being another, a notable global hit on Netflix). As is the norm these days, the romantic comedy skips the theatres and is streaming now (including in India) on Netflix (subscribe to watch).
Two Leads Who Know the Genre
Kim Young-kwang started out as a fashion model and has since featured in Korean television shows and films. His more recent work includes Netflix's dark thrillers Somebody and Trigger. He is very good at playing men who are slightly helpless around the woman they like. His other credits include The Secret Life of My Secretary and the rom-com feature film On Your Wedding Day opposite Park Bo-young.
Chae Soo-bin has been labelled the rom-com queen in Korea for good reason. She's been in her share of such fare and recently starred in When the Phone Rings. She may have first grabbed your attention in historical drama Love in the Moonlight. Technology keeps getting between Chae Soo-bin and a normal romance, and it keeps working. Be it in I'm Not a Robot (where she pretends to be a robot herself). Or Where Stars Land (where her leading man can operate as one through a prosthetic, in the form of an arm).
While billed third in Take Charge of My Heart, Cha Woo-min could be a familiar face from Study Group or Weak Hero Class 1. His characters there were considerably rougher than a romantic comedy would require. He plays Ji Eun-ho in Take Charge of My Heart.
A Rom-Com With a Plug
Take Charge of My Heart marks director Park Soo-won's first foray into the romantic comedy. His previous efforts include Birthcare Center (set in a postnatal care centre) and the second season of Work Later, Drink Now (about three buddies who meet up to drink). They revolved around deriving humour from the mundane and the travails therein.
Ten Episodes at Once
Korean dramas (KDramas) were earlier typically broadcast in sixteen episodes. More recently, and particularly those made for streaming platforms, have shortened their runtime to fit into fewer episodes and reduced the flab accordingly. Netflix often releases all the episodes of its shows at once. Take Charge of My Heart is no different, so binge away! Individual runtime for the episodes in Take Charge of My Heart has not been announced.
Who It's For
If you like your KDramas romantic, Take Charge of My Heart may be worth your time. The premise sounds quite playful, and so are most rom-coms. And when the premise is a little different, all the better. Especially if you enjoyed KDramas like When the Phone Rings and/or The Secret Life of My Secretary. Best watched in the original language and subtitles, Take Charge of My Heart streams on Netflix alongside new titles such as creature-themed thriller Below and Shaque: Trust No One (in Hindi).
