Our position on piracy
iBOMAS is a film journalism site. We write about movies and web series. That means previews, short story setups, cast and crew details, release dates and industry news. We are readers of cinema, not a distributor of it.
Piracy takes money away from the writers, technicians, actors and crews whose work we cover every day. A film that loses its theatrical and streaming revenue is a film whose team does not get paid, and whose next project may not get made. That is not an abstract concern for us. It is the industry this publication depends on.
What we do not do
- We do not host, upload, stream, embed or distribute any film, television programme or copyrighted video file.
- We do not publish links to copies of films, magnet links, torrent files or mirrors.
- We do not link to or direct readers toward unlicensed streaming sites.
- We do not publish leaked footage, camcorder recordings or pre-release material.
What we do instead
Where we know a film is legally available in India, the article carries a Where to watch section linking to the licensed platform streaming it, or to an official ticket-booking service while it is in cinemas. Where we do not have that information, we publish nothing rather than guess.
Trailers are embedded from the official YouTube channel of the studio or music label that uploaded them, so the views count toward the rightsholder. Posters and stills are used at modest resolution alongside our own commentary, as fair dealing for the purpose of criticism and review under Section 52(1)(a)(ii) of the Copyright Act, 1957. All posters, stills, trailers, logos and trademarks remain the property of their respective owners.
If you are a rights holder
If you believe anything on this site infringes your rights, whether an image, a quotation, an embedded video or a link we should not be carrying, write to [email protected] with the page URL and what you would like removed.
You do not need to send a formal legal notice to get our attention. We would much rather fix something quickly and quietly than argue about it. Our full takedown procedure, including where to send a notice and the information a formal notice should contain, is on our DMCA page.
A note to readers
If you enjoyed a film we covered, watch it on a licensed service or buy a ticket. It costs you very little and it is the only thing that reaches the people who made it.
