The case Vijay (Devgn) had meticulously ensured was closed forever is reopened when new evidence comes to light in this finale to the Hindi franchise.
Why You Should Watch It
The Hindi version of the Malayalam crime drama franchise starring Ajay Devgn concludes with a film that's an original Hindi story. The third Hindi Drishyam is also the last, so it makes for a must-watch at cinemas.
Drishyam: The Conclusion is out now in cinemas. The franchise finale was earlier titled Drishyam 3, but star Ajay Devgn announced the change in August 2026. Here's everything you need to know about the film.
The Case Reopens
The Hindi-language Drishyam started with the 2015 crime drama, a remake of Jeethu Joseph's Malayalam film of the same name starring Mohanlal. The sequel was released in 2022, also remaking Jeethu Joseph's Drishyam 2. The plot revolves around Goa-based cable operator Vijay Salgaonkar (played by Ajay Devgn in the Hindi films) who uses everything he's learnt from watching movies to protect his family after one of them accidentally kills someone.
Drishyam: The Conclusion picks up where Drishyam 2 left off. Set in Goa, it's been some years since the events that saw Vijay use his wits to escape the noose that law enforcement officers were trying to put around him and his family. However, new evidence has resurfaced and the case has been reopened. Vijay will have to go into defence mode again.
Pathak Writes a New Ending
Unlike the first two Hindi Drishyam films, Drishyam: The Conclusion is not a remake. The climax to the Hindi Drishyam saga will have a brand new story unlike the Jeethu Joseph-directed Malayalam conclusion to that version of the trilogy starring Mohanlal.
Abhishek Pathak again directs the Hindi Drishyam franchise finale. Nishikant Kamat directed the original Hindi version of Drishyam and Pathak took the baton for the sequel. Drishyam 2 was Pathak's second film as director following Ujda Chaman.
He's also one of the screenwriters on the project. Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh are credited for the story and screenplay alongside him. Reports had indicated that Drishyam 3 will be based on a new storyline.
Interestingly, Pathak has said in interviews that he and Jeethu Joseph each wrote their own draft. Both versions of the story ended differently because each director wrote his own draft.
In interviews, Pathak shared that for the conclusion to the Hindi saga, he started writing by visualising the climax. Only after nailing it down did he write the rest of the screenplay. The climax is reportedly such that only Pathak and a handful of people know it. Reports also added that most of the crew were not shown the last pages of the script.
Old Faces and Two New Ones
Devgn returns as Salgaonkar for the finale, alongside most of the Drishyam 2 cast. Tabu, who has shared the screen with Devgn since 1994's Vijaypath, reprises the role of Meera Deshmukh. Golmaal Again, De De Pyaar De and Bholaa have featured the pair since. Rajat Kapoor again plays husband Mahesh Deshmukh alongside her.
Returning are also Kamlesh Sawant (Gaitonde), Shriya Saran (Nandini), Ishita Dutta (Anju), Mrunal Jadhav (Anu) and Saurabh Shukla (Murad Ali). Two new members have been added to the franchise, though, Prakash Raj and Jaideep Ahlawat.
Raj, who went toe to toe with Devgn as the villain in Singham, plays public prosecutor Indrajith Shetty. Ahlawat plays the Crime Branch SP Rajveer Singh Tomar. Ahlawat will be familiar for fans of streaming shows as he plays the doggedly pursuing Hathi Ram Chaudhary in Prime Video's crime thriller Paatal Lok.
While Devgn is on the Salgaonkar family's side, Tabu is on the other, just like in the first two Hindi instalments.
Panorama Stays in Charge
Panorama Studios produced the 2015 and 2022 Hindi-language Drishyam films and has produced the final chapter as well. Kumar Mangat Pathak has produced all three and son Abhishek is also in the producers' box alongside Alok Jain and Ajit Andhare. Star Studio18 is also a production company on this instalment.
Sudhir K Chaudhary is behind the lens, Sandeep Francis has edited the footage and Ravi Basrur provides the score. Credits also give a musical nod to Karma, along with names like Rochak Kohli and Amar Mohile.
Ravi Basrur Takes Over
The musical baton has passed on from Drishyam 2's music director Devi Sri Prasad. KGF and Salaar composer Basrur is on board. Salaar's percussive beats could make Vijay's third chapter more taut still. The Drishyam films don't have a ton of action but they keep viewers on tenterhooks with dialog-heavy interrogations, planning and escapism.
A Date Fans Remember
2 October is a date Drishyam fans would remember even without the release date. It's when the Salgaonkars went for the satsang in Panaji in the first film and formed the alibi "2 October ko kya hua tha". The filmmakers picked the date on purpose, releasing it on Gandhi Jayanti. The running time is 148 mins.
Cinemas Now, Streaming Later
While there's no word on when the Hindi-language finale will release on OTT, the first film can be watched on Prime Video and JioHotstar and Drishyam 2 is on Prime Video in India.
Trailer Launched in Goa
The official trailer of Drishyam: The Conclusion, which is 2 minutes 49 seconds long, was unveiled at Panaji in Goa on 9 September 2026.
